School Day
Our school has been serving the community here for over 100 years.
We are very proud of our school, where there is a real sense of community between the school, the surrounding area and St Peter’s Church. As a Church school, our Christian values of love, joy, respect, hope and forgivness, are at the heart of what we do and are inspired by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:13: ’And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’ We believe that children learn best when these values are prioritised alongside their social and emotional needs
A strength of our school is its size: we are a small school with 140 children on roll, including a nursery . It means we know all our children and families well and can make sure that we do our best to develop their learning in a happy, safe, secure and values -respecting environment.
We know that education is best achieved by means of a positive partnership between parent, child and school. We strongly encourage parental involvement, for example through our Parent Voice Group, and are always pleased to welcome parents in school.
If you would like any further information regarding our school, please do not hesitate to contact us or make an appointment to visit us. We look forward to meeting you!
Our school was founded in 1857 by the first Parish Priest of St Peter’s, Fr George Rundle Prynne. He saw the work of the school as a very important part of the work of the Church and wanted every child to have the best opportunities to grow and learn so that they would be able to make the best of themselves in adult life. Our school is, therefore, an essential part of the work of St Peter’s Church.
